Shakespeare’s tragic character Ophelia, who appears in Hamlet, has been a source of inspiration to artists for centuries. The most famous work to come from this was John Everett Millais and his iconic Painting completed in 1851-2. It depicts Ophelia’s suicide by drowning in a stream in Act IV. Photographer Dorota Gorecka puts her own spin on this painting: her dreamy imagery captures her heroine in full costume in a picturesque lily pond, as she dreams away her life.
