The international art extravaganza known as Art Dubai is already in full swing in the Middle Eastern city. Hundreds of the world’s finest artists and their galleries will be on display for the movers and shakers to gaze at. The Cameroonian visual artist Pascale Marthine Tayou is one such name who is showing there. His dreamy sculpture “Plastic Tree C” is enchanting viewers with its child-like whimsy: this is the kind of art that puts a great big smile on your face. Tayou’s work is defined by engaging with themes of postcolonial discourse and global identity.
