Transforming Pencils Into Landscapes

Australian artist Lionel Bawden creates imaginative landscapes out of colored Staedtler pencils. These complex sculptures seem to depict movement and transmutation from the way the pencils are intricately layered in hexagonal patterns. Some appear to mimic organic formations like glaciers and cave systems that are complete with stalagmites and stalactites.
