It is not about Me, It is about the Art

This is the black and white photography of Gonzalo Benard. The artist takes self-portraits (like the image above), and in no way is it related with enhancing his ego. The pictures are like “non-portraits,” as if he is implemented into a scene, the actual art. “His inexistent corporeal ego becomes subordinated to the soil of the land, the way rocks and animals do. In its primordial essence, this very same body, in all its plastic qualities, breathes an unforeseen sensuality, which, however, can in no case be described in terms of a cultural eroticism, incited by the voyeuristic gaze.” [1]
